FW: [RC] Fly masks at night - Mike SherrellThe only time we take of the flymasks is when we want to ride. As my vet advised years ago, "Leave them on and if you don't see any twigs or leaves jammed into them in the mornings then you know they're not a problem," and they have not been. 5-7 horses, 24 hrs/day all summer long except when ridden, for quite a few years, no problem. But then Peruvians are supposed to be smart horses. No one has come to claim them. The consensus is that they escaped somehow from a feed lot. It's possible that their ears were notched to get them thru the states that require id. Notched ears are an acceptable form of id. So, it seems they may have been on their way to Mexico. Their poor little ears were getting bitten up pretty good. The notching was relatively new. So, I got fly masks on. But, getting them on and off every day might be more than can be expected at this point. I'm going home to NY is a few days. There will be someone here to feed and take care of them until I return to bring them home. But, they wouldn't be able to do the fly masks on and off. So, does anyone have any experience leaving them on 24/7. I've got citronella collars on them too to keep down the bugs.
