RE: [RC] Who would I like to ride with?? - heidiFor me It would be who would I like to ride with again in most cases. Like Ed Johnston, horseman supreme. Pat Fitzgerald who could get a horse through any ride no matter how tough. Lou Hollander, strategist and Les Carr of miles to still go. On the other side of the coin Doris Anderson, Jackie Grape to mother me to death and Maryben Stover for fun. Most readers will not recognize some of these names but they are the riders that made this sport what it is today. Uh oh, I rode with all of those but Ed, and knew Ed pretty well at that, even though I never rode with him... Does that make me old as dirt, too?? I think I've even vetted rides where all of the above except maybe Ed and Pat have ridden, although Ed crewed at rides I've vetted. And I've ridden rides put on by Pat, Lew, and Jackie... Doris was always one of my favorite riders to vet--very practical horsewoman, always cheerful, always realistic. I've refrained from chiming in here, because I've met most of the folks I'd like to ride with--just haven't had a chance to ride with them.
