Clinton Anderson sells a tie-ring that works great. I
used it for a large draft filly that had a problem pulling back. When you use a
long enough rope, they pull (against friction), the ring holds the rope, and
once they get far enough away (several feet) and past their panic stage. wa la.
they are still "tied". so they learn pulling doesn't get them free and
eventually their panic reaction goes away or lessens. works great. one tip
is to use it in a stall at first. so they can only back up so far.
