[RC] Front stall Trailer Storage - k s swigartMichelle said: I have my portable corral standing up against the ?wall, secured with bungies. Not concerned about this... ?I've been trailering around a bit with one bale of hay up ?there with it, it has not shifted around at all. I would ?like to put another one up there, not too concerned about that... Personally, I WOULD be concerned about these things.? Bungie cords do not make for really adequate tie downs (or, more accurately, "tie forwards").? And the coefficient of friction between a bale of hay and the floor is even more inadequate, even for a heavy object like a bale of hay.? I am assuming that if I want to put any buckets of anything ?up there, that I should tie or bungie them, so they don't slide around, fall over, or anything (for example, if I ever need to ?haul out my manure, that will be my preferred location for ?the bucket, lol). Any suggestions / words of advice My advice would be that ANYTHING you have in the travel compartment with your horse needs to be properly secured with something that has NO stretch in it.? _I_ use the nylon webbing tied down straps that can be purchased at most hardware stores, auto parts stores, and big box some of everything stores (e.g. Wal Mart, K Mart, etc.)? That way, you don't even have to know how to tie a competent knot. Because these things are up against the bulkhead, they are unlikely to be subjected to the forces that would make them shift backwards unless you accelerate rapidly...or if something untoward happens like you jackknife your trailer or get in an accident.? But it is in the situations where something untoward happens that you LEAST want to have unsecured objects shifting around in your trailer. It is bad enough that the horses themselves are an "unsecured load" that is gonna get thrown around in the trailer if something untoward happens, you don't need to add other flying objects to the mix. Personally, MY preferred location for hauling out manure is the back of my truck...or barring that option, you can leave it without a bucket on the floor of the trailer and consider it "bedding." kat Orange County, Calif. :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
