[RC] The boy who cried wolf - k s swigart - Kitley, Carrie E Civ USAF AFSPC 30 MDSS/SGSLFI don't agree. If other riders don't heed the warning of any ribbon, that's just blatant rudeness or they simply aren't paying attention. Most people I've come across however DO pay attention to the ribbons, I know I do. That's like saying vehicles that have red taillights will be ignored and we should just ram into them anyway, whether they stop or not. A ribbon should be heeded no matter what the meaning because it must mean SOMETHING to that horse and rider or they wouldn't put it there. Maybe we should use Yellow ribbons on horses that don't kick but don't like tailgaters. Carrie Barbara said: I see no reason NOT to put a red ribbon on your ?horse's tail if you want to keep other riders ?at a comfortable and safe distance. One cannot ?say his horse never kicks. I know of other riders ?who do this. ? Actually, there is a very good reason not to put a red ribbon in the tail of a horse that is not "a kicker."? Doing so renders a red ribbon in a horse's tail meaningless. ? If people with "kickers" who put red ribbons in their horses' tails as a warning to other riders ever wonder why other riders don't heed the warning (which happens often, the wondering, I mean)....well...they can blame people who put red ribbons in the tails of their horses that are "kickers." ? Issuing dire warnings for dangers that do not exist is rarely ever a good practice. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
