I've OTOH, I have experienced drafting as a very kind act. My friend and I were doing the LD back of the pack on two anxious newbie horses and we got in a situation where neither horse wanted to be in the lead when we hit some single track in the desert -- the mare wanted to follow the gelding and the gelding wanted to follow the mare! We pulled off to let a 50 miler past and he'd apparently seen our problem because he slowed and said "Follow me and don't let them stop: your finish is only a couple miles ahead!" Once he saw we were moving he took off to continue his ride, but our guys knew there was a horse ahead and both were willing to *go*.
