Re: [RC] okay, another question - Joe LongTruman Prevatt wrote: ... A horrible ruckus broke out over this rider breaking the rule. The ride manager climbed down the entered rider's throat and the throat of the other riders to the point that the Water Management District ranger had to step in and remind the RM that she had no authority over anything or anyone not associated with the endurance ride. The ranger gave the RM a pretty good dressing down and I think she deserved it. That wasn't a problem with the rule, it was a problem with application by the ride manager. In that example, a simple warning, an explanation of the rule, would have sufficed: "Sorry, but you're not allowed to have un-entered friends riding with you while you're riding an AERC ride." No penalty was called for, unless they continued riding together after that. You can always find examples of a rule being misapplied or abused, that doesn't mean we can go without them. -- Joe Long aka ChipRider Somewhere on the Range =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
