[RC] Pony Clubbers-Yes! - k s swigart

The rating system for testing and achieving rank
?(D-1, D-2, D-3, C-1, etc.)? is fair but rigorous with
?"moving up" the system a highly idealized goal
?among the youngsters.? The nice thing about their
?system is that it is standardized.? Each rank signifies
?that objective knowledge has been mastered along
?with riding skills commensurate with the rating.?

I am confused as to why, when talking about Pony Club, the standardized
exclusiveness of the ranking system is considered a "nice thing" while applying
it to the sport of endurance riding is considered "elititst."

Although I suppose it is possible that the people who think that defining
endurance riding rigorously and speaking of "moving up" in distance to be
elitist would also consider the Pony Club ranking system and the goal of
"moving up" (and calling it such) also to be elitist and not a nice thing at
all.
