RE: [RC] Pony Club ENDURANCE riding???? - rides2far@xxxxxxxx. It seems to me that they key here is "Pony Club" a 12k "run" for a Pony would be endurance wouldn't it When I was in college I hauled Pony Club horses for years for exta money. Went to tons of shows. Most ride TB's or TB crosses *very* few "ponies". Of course, if somebody showed up on an Arab they'd talk about what a cute "pony" it was. The kid on the photo was on a true "Pony"...but then we had a pony named Comet in the SE...no more than 11 hands tall who did 1000 miles of 25 milers with his rider bareback. Guess that makes him an ultra-marathoner pony. >g< My kids did USPC Pony Club for a few years. I brought the only 3 "Ponies" that were at our entire camp. The rest were 15 hands and up. The big difference I would think is that they're apparently not riding with sponsors since it sounds like it's purely a Pony Club event. At least in my experience, I can't think of any of the moms other than myself who rode so that would make for a different sport. Seems to me that they would do better to simply run in conjunction with presently sanctioned events and keep their points seperately. These kids could ride really well but often weren't used to getting out of the ring much if at all.
