Re: [RC] Knee pain/ stirrups - Kathy MayedaYeah, Ed! I think people tend to brace with their legs too much. I know I did on my first few endurance rides and ended up with bruised shins! I am missing the ACL in my left knee due to a ski accident. Arthroscopy was in it's earlier days, and they put a cast on my leg which did nothing but build of scar tissue that months of painful PT had to break down. I babied it a lot after that and it was pretty unstable just walking around (I'm not a real athlete) until I started to ride again as an adult. Now my knee is pretty stable due to the muscle toning I get from riding! K. Bottom line: ?It is possible to put much less strain on the knees if you ride with the proper technique. ?By the way, after 5 years of PT I was able to start running again, proving that given enough dedication PT does work.
