However, from what I've read on this list, UMECRA is a bit different from NATRC, so decisions would have to be made as to what "flavor" of CTR would be involved (assuming this went anywhere). I believe that NATRC rules are a lot more restrictive than what UMECRA has, if I'm remembering correctly, as they have rules on horsemanship, rules on no portable corrals, no splint boots or other leg protection (too bad if your horse brushes or interferes, I guess....)

Not really. UMECRA sanctions Endurance, CTR, and LD. Folk happily compete for UMECRA awards and AERC awards in both Endurance and LD and would also if AERC awards existed for CTR. As a further example of multiple sanctioning, the AHA regional CTR and Endurance rides are also held on the same venue (with mostly the same participants) as UMECRA and AERC rides.
