Re: [RC] Convention - Joe LongBruce Weary wrote:This will be my last comment on the subject of the cost of endurance riding. I am not being cavalier about the differences in people's incomes. I am simply saying that after an entire day in the swimming pool, as I climb out, drenched from head to toe, I'm not concerned about getting hit by a few raindrops. Anyone, and I don't care how much they are budgeting, has to spend thousands just to play in this sport. Some spend more thousands than others, agreed. But I wonder if as much disgruntlement is directed openly at hay suppliers, tack vendors, insurance salespeople, farriers, truck and trailer dealers, and feed stores as the AERC for the costs of participation. I bet not. I don't see all this purported "AERC bashing" on this subject. Most of us who've been talking about it are just looking to get our lodging at minimum cost, just as we try to get the best airfare and buy our hay at the best price. What I resent is the suggestion that by doing so, we are somehow being disloyal to the AERC. So can we please stop bashing the people who are just trying to get their lodging at the lowest price, and who may not care about the size of the room or if they have to walk a few minutes to get to the convention site? -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
