I've always thought wood-chewing is a habit that
is copied from another horse. We have, since the abolition of creosote use
in CA, either nailed a metal cap on a hitching rail, pieces of sheetrock corner
molding on the edges of boards, or wrapped mesh wire around a post or tree
trunk. Then again, there are pipe panels for paddocks...that really
works.
My horse is eating all the trees and wood she can get her hands on... Any
suggestions? This is our first "beaver horse"
