Fair enough---the (happily) few I've seen had a history of some stinky nasal
discharge, so they probably also had a bacterial component to it.  But, I
did see one that didn't have other symptoms except for intermittent
bleeding, right up to the point he came in gushing blood and bled out within
minutes.  Never had much of a chance to get history on that one.


Yeah, it's pretty spectacular when it happens.  Fortunately, this mare was the 
only gutteral pouch erosion I ever had to "deal" with (and I never had a chance 
to "deal" with it--just found her dead without a struggle in a pool of frothy 
blood).
