[RC] OT (slightly) Pregnant older mares and calcium/phosphorus - Valerie Jaques

I have an older mare (she's 18; third baby, but she lost the last one at about this point in her pregnancy) about 6 months pregnant.  We didn't think she took and were going to breed her this year instead.  Now, the vet said she wasn't pregnant, so we weren't going for the if she doesn't come into heat she's pregnant game!  A second mare bred to the same stallion (maiden; about 24) is also in much the same boat, except that she got very skinny and is suffering from rainrot.  So, now we've realized these mares are pregnant, and the vet has said that older mares need to have half their diet alfalfa because they need the calcium/phosphorus.  The first mare's owner (in effect I'm breed leasing her) doesn't want to feed her alfalfa because it makes her difficult if not impossible to deal with.  The second mare is badly depleted.  Any suggestions on what to feed these girls as a supplement to get enough calcium/phosphorus into them?  I have the first mare on Mare Plus; I don't know what vitamin supplement the second mare is getting.  Both babies are destined for endurance (just to make it topical).  Any information would be wonderful.  And I'll answer any questions to the best of my ability.
