[RC] Question for Mike on refunds - FXLivestockMike,If AERC does receive numerous complaints on a particular ride or ride manager concerning an issue like refunds, why wouldn't AERC or the sanctioning committee, or the sanctioning director be able to take these issues into account if the ride manager applied for sanctioning the next year? In some ways I do understand why AERC would not want to be involved in a dispute between a ride manager and a rider concerning refunds. But on the other hand, as a rider who only "chooses" to attend AERC sanctioned rides, I expect a certain amount of support from AERC because AERC does sanction the event. To me, this is very different from dealing with vendor/rider issues which really has nothing to do with AERC. I know AERC does have the ability to deny sanctioning to ride managers for a variety of issues. Perhaps these issues all have to do with actual rule violations. But on the other hand, would AERC sanction a ride the following year if the ride manager did not pay ride fees from the previous year? It is kind of ironic that AERC could use sanctioning as leverage to get their fees but would not consider using sanctioning to allow members to receive refunds that were promised. Perhaps a reasonable solution would be to have a rule/policy that ride managers must state their refund policy on the ride entry. There is already a precedent for a ride managers putting certain things in writing on an entry. Why not a refund policy? At least it would give riders recourse and keep from muddying this issue when these issues come up. Kim Fuess ************** The year's hottest artists on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards.
