[RC] Pre-enter/ odds you'll show up - rides2far@xxxxxxxxI have a related problem right now. As a ride manager this spring, my concern is that if I don't do pre-entries too many may show up and we literally would not have a place to put them. There would be no option for where to put them once our field and a half fill up. So...I need to plan for that. We never limited entries in the past. We had around 69-82 entries and they fit in OK. My fear is that if I only accepted 90 pre-entries that 25 or so may have a lame horse, sick moms, broke trucks, etc. and not show up, leaving me with fewer entries than I need. Anybody got any numbers on what the average drop out rate is among pre-entries? Are people bad to pre-enter "just in case" and figure no big deal to lose $15? I don't need the money up front so much as I need to make sure I have parking. I NEED to fill the ride (running it out of my own pocket) but I also want to make sure I don't overfill the field. I'm willing to deal with calling folks on waiting lists if necessary. I'm finalizing the entry form this week. What would be the best way to manage this?
