re: [RC] Low heel and wedge pad - Lauren HornAfter reviewing the answers I was surprised to find that most people do nothing except try to keep the breakover set back and frequent shoeing. I was happy to hear that Warpaint has all those miles with a wedge pad, as I know a couple other people who have used the pads but no one has the mileage like Warpaint. I think if you have a broken back pastern angle with good shoeing then using a wedge pad might actually be beneficial. In my case I struggle between a healthy hoof or healthy joints as I can't get proper hoof pastern angles unless I shoe. So my choice is, do I have a horse with a healthy hoof and arthritis in joints or properly angled joints and a slightly distorted hoof (from shoeing)??
