Re: [RC] Pounds of Hay - Quentin & Libby LlopI feed free choice from large round bales (carefully harvested, stored inside and presented in a feeder). I try to keep the groups at no more than 6 per bale and figure that a bale lasts those six a week. The bales weigh around 1200 lbs. The group of 3 16+ hand pregnant mares and the stallion finish a bale in less than a week. This winter I'm feeding 33 horses and 40 ewes (32 lambs so far) and using 6 bales per week.
