One of my boarders just got a new horse. She’s 7
years old and pretty well conformed. She’s done show and a couple
25 milers and been somewhat idle but living on pasture for several months.
She’s been making some popping noises in her hocks that has her owner a
little concerned. I think she shouldn’t worry about it unless she
sees some other worrisome behavior. I don’t like adding joint supplements
just for the heck of it for a young horse that hasn’t been ridden too
hard. But if that would be smart, then we’d want to consider
it. She is planning on regular 50’s when they’re both in
shape and potentially 100’s.
Any advice? She didn’t do a pre-purchase exam,
so we don’t have any vet info on her at this point.
Thanks,
Marlene
