Re: [RC] Another Saddle Search - Laney Humphrey

There are lots of brands of saddles out there that meet your requirements, but not many in that price range unless you are willing to consider a used saddle. Here's what I would suggest you do: try some new saddles till you find one you like, then search for a used one in your price range. You can go to
http://www.endurance.net/market/saddles/

and have lots of fun searching! I know there are even more saddles that aren't listed there, Specialized Saddles for one, so also look through the ads on the endurance.net homepage.

author of "Choosing a saddle for endurance and long distance riding." There are lots of saddles available now that weren't when I wrote it, but the saddle selection process I suggest is just as good today as it was 10 years ago and the basics of human and saddle anatomy haven't changed. Email me if you'd like to buy a copy.

I need some advice. I am searching for an endurance saddle. These are the requirements I need.

For my horse(s):
Most are wide, med. backed and are fairly flat. All have super laid back, large shoulders and good withers so they need flaring at the shoulders.

For me:
Small twist and deep seat. I am not sure I like paneled saddles because of the height they are above the horse but I am willing to try. Something with dressage stirrup placement. English or compact western style (no horn) preferred.

I really want to make an investment here but not break the bank. $500-$1500 dollars or around that would be perfect.

Thanks.
