And I've read questions of "why do we have DST? What is
the use of it?" They come from people who do not ride horses, nor spend
time outside in the evenings, I think. I, too, love the coming of DST, and
happy that it now begins earlier than it used to.
Oh, yes, DST, the very best day of the year. Like the joy
of the day school was out for summer, lo those many years ago. ;-)
When the Santa Ana wind season is essentially over. Verdant
hillsides if there's been the usual amounts of rain. Late afternoon's
rides with wildflowers backlit by the sun.
When that afternoon's ride can end in a rinse bath, if it's warm enough,
with the radiant heat of sunlight still extant to dry them. Trying not
to think of the hot weather yet to come and all of that vegetation as future
tinder--just being in the moment.
