Re: [RC] Good Winter Riding Boots - Lysane CreeI had the tall Mountain Horse winter boots. They were quite warm but they did end up cracking where your foot bends the boot all the time (by the time I went to use them for a second winter. And then I had problems with the zipper one of them. Two of my friends had the paddocks in the winter version and they both also cracked and fell apart after one winter.
I now have Ariat winter boots and they are warm and more resistant. I'm going through my second winter with them so far and I have no problem with them. The only thing I might change next time around is to take a half-size bigger as I have thick wool socks that are kind of too thick. But I have found really great socks from Bombardier/Ski-doo - they are for snowmobiling and they only come in Bombardier black and yellow, but they are not too thick yet nice and warm. I love them.
Overall I have found that my Mountain Horse stuff tends to fall apart sooner than most and that my Ariat stuff lasts.

Actually, they don't HAVE to be specific for riding, but warm, waterproof and comfortable enough to ride in all day would be good. What about Mountain Horse boots? Keen winter boots look interesting, but they aren't really for riding. You can email me privately if you want (so as not to clog up RC). Thanks!
