Re: [RC] Dealing with the over supply - Barbara McCraryYou hit the nail squarely on the head. Trouble is, this law was made by people who didn't have useless horses to deal with, only their emotions, and it isn't likely to be repealed any time soon.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "kathy swigart" <katswig@xxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, December 17, 2008 12:23 PM Subject: [RC] Dealing with the over supply Fostering a culture in which it is considered wrong to kill a horse and make use of its carcass has CONTRIBUTED to the over breeding of horses because it leaves alive animals to be bred which otherwise would have been killed before they could be bred. The compulsion to use a horse that you are feeding for SOMETHING is strong. Far better to arrange to for it to stop needing feed than to arrange to breed it. kat Orange County, Calif. :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
