RE: [RC] emergency: horses just OD'd on dynamite--good news, maybe? - Mary KraussThank you guys for such kind emails. The information and kind thoughts are making me feel much better.Update: Our vet got stuck on the way to our place. Her husband then got stuck trying to tow her out. They've been out in this snowstorm for hours. She finally made it back to the clinic and read up on vitamin/mineral toxicity. She's so nice--about as worried as I am! The possible good news is that she's thinking that the horses might be ok. From what she can gather, even if Benny the Wonder Pony were to have eaten all five lbs of the concentrate by himself (most likely scenario), he'd be on the low end of the danger scale for iron overdose. She's not positive, but she's hopeful. I think I might be able to go to sleep now. Leo's having a ball yanking on Benny's blanket--first time they've had clothes on this year. They don't LOOK sick.... Hard to believe one of them could be staggering around in 4 or 5 days.... Please send them good thoughts. And thank you to all 10 people who emailed me. Today has been a good day oddly--seven different people helped tow our van out of the ditch this morning (and then tow the Dodge Diesel that got stuck trying to tow us....), and now a whole gang of ridecampers took time out of their day to give advice and encouragement. Our vet did all she could to reach us in one of the worse snowstorms we've had. The world really is full of kindness.
