Dead bodies require no compassion.  Live critters do.  That's Cindy's point.  Be as "softy" as you want about them when they are alive--bravo!  But Cindy has a pretty valid point that if you're not up to what happens at the end of life, you're lacking one of the critical traits of being a horse owner.  Being able to cope with what happens is the last favor you can do for your friend.

Being a "softy" about animals is not being "fragile" in my opinion, it
is being compassionate. If a person doesn't have a certain compassion
for animals, THOSE are the ones that should not own them!
