About 70 wild mares from the Cedar Mountain herd in Utah will receive the contraceptive porcine zona pellusica (PZP) as part of a joint effort between the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to control wild horse population growth on BLM lands.
The mares are among 575 horses being gathered this week from the 640-horse herd.
