Re: [RC] If they were the same price... 1st or 2nd crop hay? - Sharon LevasseurWithout a doubt, for this hay, that would be the 2nd crop. It is beautifully soft leafy grass. Still unbelievably green for December. The 1st crop hay is much stemmier... round stems instead of flat blades... which I understand can be better for digestion, or the hind gut, or something like that. Some of it is really fine, and some thicker, but none of it remotely approaches the coarseness of the hay that my last supplier produced. But yes, I will get it tested. -Sharon L. in Maine Quoting Quentin & Libby Llop <qhll@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>: I would reach into each bale, grab a handful, squeeze it and feed whichever was softer. Unless it was for my haflinger pony, in which case I would look for the prickliest stemmiest, brownest stuff I could find :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
