[RC] Slower multidays?? - Michael MaulIn response to:"Horses doing multidays are generally going slow, eating and resting lots during each day's ride."You might want to take a look at http://www.seraonline.org/Archives/multidayrides.pdf Here's a useful statement from that study "The surprise is, like in the previous study, the Pioneer riders are going faster than the single day rides. Although the riders in the Pioneer events rode between three and 5 days in a row to complete the Pioneer event, they were as a group riding faster than riders at the single day rides in the same regions on similar terrain in a similar climate. The riders that complete all days of a Pioneer event ride on the average 4.2 percent faster than the average ride time of single day riders." There is a lot of other interesting information provided by Truman Prevatt using the past 11 years of AERC data at http://www.seraonline.org/endstats.htm and linked from the AERC Competitions menu under Useful Web Links.
