Re: [RC] biting horse/kicking horse - Barbara MoultonAt a small Florida show in 71 back where the local English and Western people didn't mingle I was waiting near the arena entrance in the shade for a Western class and the lone Hunt Seat rider schooling her horse finally came out and just because I thought she might want to come over to the only shade with her tired horse I warned her my battle ax alpha mare "will bite" as she was a good 20 feet away- She laughed and and said "Not this far away" and rode off to tell her friends about the crazy redneck kid with the "dangerous" horse. Lucky for her all her friends were the other side of the arena and she didn't get closer but went the other way instead because my mare already had her back hunched up and was "puffing". Her mouth, the only slight control I had was totally dead from too many years of go and whoa kids riding her. I had only had her a few weeks and we were still working things out. That girl would have never known what hit her if she had crossed the invisible line of death that existed in my horse's mind. Yes I know ( owner must be in control) but I can plead I was only 13 at the time.
