I absolutely agree with these statements.  I, unfortunately, witnessed first hand a person who tried to correct a horses kicking behavior and the horse went after her and knocked her to the ground with his chest and stood over her with his teeth barred until the owner grabbed the leadline and got him off of her.  It could have been all bad had the horse decided to continue his attack.  The best you can do in any situation where you and your horse is in danger is to remove yourself as quickly as possible from the danger.  It doesn't matter who is responsible, negligent, or absentminded when someone is planning your funeral.
