I am curious to find out if anyone else has had this problem with their
horse. There are 2 mares, both chestnut both in their late teens. One is a
appendix QH the other is Arab. They are stabled 5 miles apart. They both are out
with shelter. These 2 mare suffer from sores that appear at this time of year.
The sores are round with the scabs being the size smaller than a dime but
the hair loss around the scab is dime size. The places where the sores appear
are almost identical, under the jaw, on the chest, stifle area, on the neck. The
sores do not appear anywhere where tack is. On the QH the sores drain more than
the Arab. The healing time is about 2 weeks. Anyone have any in site to what
these are and the cause. First we thought they were tick bites but no evidence
of ticks on either horse. Thanks in Advance.
