Re: [RC] Saddles for Polish Arabs - Marlene Moss

I got into saddle fitting because my Polish arab mare has broad (not just wide) shoulders with a pretty big shoulder rotation.  I spent 3 years trying different saddles and getting a couple custom fit to her, but she got more and more cranky for saddling, to the point of biting me when I saddled her.  She wouldn’t canter on her left lead or let me post on her left diagonal.  And she pinned her ears any time I asked her to transition up.

It took about 5 minutes with the Free’n’Easy saddle to know we’d found the right one for her.  She relaxed for saddling even during the fitting process.  In a half mile ride, she let me post on the left diagonal and took a left canter lead – and most amazingly for her, she lowered her head, rounded her back and was just instantly a different horse.  I’ll never put any other saddle on this horse – or really any of my horses.

When I got professionally involved with saddle fitting and selling tack, I saw many amazing transformations with the Free’n’Easy saddle.  I don’t have the business anymore since I’m running a boarding facility, but I’ve got 5 FnE’s and won’t part with any of them!  And I just got a new Polish arab gelding that is very broad, but does not have a particularly wide shoulder angle.  There aren’t many off the shelf saddles that would have worked with him!
