I think that most of the races are held in the winter when the cimate there approaches reason, so I doubt that many people have experienced a Gulf summer. Most locals there leave if at all possible because you can hardly bear to be outdoors for more than a few minutes. Absolutely everything is air conditioned. Lots of them come to Egypt for the summer since our summer is felt to be so much better...that should give you an idea of the intensity. Usually the Qatari horses spend the summer in France, but I'm betting that this summer they didn't. They were on their way home from France when they stopped into Cairo last November for the Pan Arab games.
