Re: [RC] "You can't vaccinate for Lightening" - Elizabeth WalkerReally good point, Lucie. You can't train for it, either. :)A couple of things that I got from both this post and the one by Kathy: -- The team had a strategy, and a pre-determined pacing, and it sounded from Kathy's post as if they executed to that strategy. Well done to all. -- I guarantee you, if lightning struck close enough to scare my horse into jumping on top of a companion, with both horses going down, ***my*** reaction would be "Nope. That's it. I'm done! Get me out of here!" I can't believe they both got back on and continued. I agree that this incident is a really good candidate for why both horses came up lame (and getting pulled at the very end has to be the hardest). -- Sounds like a really bad bug. The report I heard was early on, that Cheryl probably had food poisoning. Sounds like it wasn't that simple. I hope everyone who is ill gets better quickly, and I hope the rest of you don't come down with it. The whole thing sounds like a tough race under adverse conditions. Well done to the entire team, and the horses.
