This is what I stole out of my ski bag to wear riding in the NV desert..toasty warm! I have used these under my ski helmet for years, and discovered the last time I lived here that they doubled for winter riding as well:

You can find them in most ski shops if you don't want to order them online. Just be sure they are for adults, not kids..

Does anyone know where to find the kind of hat that is made to fit under your helmet?  The top is a lightweight material then it has ear flaps that are fleece that come down further.  I have one that goes over but it is worthless when its actually cold out (Im talking Minnesota cold).  I've searched the obvious places, stateline tack, dover etc but can't find them :(
