[RC] Rain Rot - - Kitley, Carrie E Civ USAF AFSPC 30 MDSS/SGSLF

The best way to treat rain rot on a full coat is to clip or shave the
affected areas. This rain rot organism does not like oxygen so
promoting a dry aired-out environment is a must. Then you have to pick
the scabs off, (gently), then use a bleach and water mixture on a cotton
ball and dab the infected areas twice a day. It went away fairly
quickly. You can also use betadine, but it is so messy and stains. It
is a bit gentler on the skin though, but the bleach mixture tends to
work a little faster. The key is getting the scabs away from the skin
and keeping the horses dry if you can. :)
