Re: [RC] re: New incentive to enter 100s - Elizabeth WalkerNope -- elevator rides work differently than what was proposed. In the proposal, as I understood it, you would pay for the 100 mile ride, but get credit for miles successfully completed. So if you vetted through at the 50 mile mark, but got pulled at 75, you would get credit for the 50 miles, as your horse was fit to continue at that point. In the current elevator ride, when you elevate, you are *no longer entered* at the shorter distance, and are entered at the longer distance. If you do not complete that distance, you get nothing. If you do complete, you get milage only. I think elevator rides are intended to allow someone to "try" for a higher mileage. However, they always seemed to be a bad deal to me - if you don't complete, you get nothing, and if you *do* complete, you only get the milage. If I wanted to "try" for a higher distance, I would be better off just entering that distance. If I don't make it, I am no worse off, but if I do complete I am eligible for milage AND placement, BC, etc. On Oct 7, 2008, at 9:31 AM, Steven & Rise Estergreen wrote: Isn't that what elevator rides are for? Sign up for elevators, and ask the ride managers to schedule more of them. Why would you expect to get credit for completing 50 of a 75 if your horse got pulled (unfit to continue) at 50? You wouldn't have gotten credit for the 50 if that was all you had signed up for. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
