RE: [RC] hay bale carriers - on the roof - Mary Sutliff

Over ten years ago we purchased some el cheapo hay bale carriers from National Bridle Shop.  At first we tied then on the trailer fenders because our old trailer didn't have a hay rack.  With our new trailer they have been carried many miles in the hay rack.  They have held up very well-much better than expected.  They're been used hard and even the zippers are still good so I think we got our money's worth.
We now have a four horse slant trailer and often put the hay in the front stall.  I like having it inside because it's much easier to get to and we don't usually haul four horses.  When we ordered this trailer I forgot to get the door (stud door?)into the first stall and I've regretted that many times.

Subject: [RC] hay bale carriers - on the roof

Has anybody used the $20 hay bale carriers (like can be had at Jeffers or the like) and then strapped those to the top of their trailer for transport? Do the bags hold up or does the wind tear them to pieces? If the wind tears those up, what is good to use?

Thanks,
