RE: [RC] Advice on a stallion wanted - heidiWell, considering that we are now in times difficult enough that people are giving away good horses, turning them loose and even putting them to sleep, why, I wonder would you want to BREED another one? Um, maybe because she wants one that possesses the traits that SHE wants?? Horses are individuals, with inborn traits and personalities, and are not interchangeable like mechanical things. No matter how many horses are being dumped or given away, it is still often hard to find ones that meet one's own criteria. Today's breeding trends have been to breed away from the sorts of riding traits that many of us want--and as such, I don't blame people for wanting to breed for their own use, if they have a mare that has the qualities they want. I don't mean to make light of the problem of overbreeding--but it is just as short-sighted not to breed at all.
