Re: [RC] horse boarding in Tripoli, Libya? - Dyane Smith
Leptis Magna and Sabratha (sp?). I used to think
that was the way Roman ruins should be. We used to picnic beneath huge and
fairly well-preserved statues. I'm glad they may have survived the last
half-century.

Tripoli, Libya?
A good friend of mine who is an architect in New York went to
Libya to consult on a new tourism project there. There are some amazing
ruins in Libya from Roman days and some incredible countryside along the
coastline. He showed me some photos...amazing. Drool.
I would worry about taking my horses that far, but for
the people at least going to Tripoli has to be the opportunity of a
lifetime. It is hands down one of the most beautiful places in
the world. When I lived there many, many years ago, I rode horses at a
stable established and maintained by the British Army. We rode
cross-country and on the beach, including swimming them in the
Mediterranean.
I envy Maryanne the life she has chosen, but Tripoli
would be a close second.
