[RC] Caja Del Rio Ride in NM - Spencer, Maryann LTC (RET) USAFor those in the NM area who missed this ride, you missed and well organized one with lots of friendly riders. I confess my horse was not ready for the 30 but we did a nice 15 orientation as this horse is green, although a 6 yo. BUT I took this TWH B/W mare over rocky terrain barefoot. I have been working in N NM for past 6 months so she was adjusted to the altitude and trails. We went for 'behavior' training as I have been going slowly since being injured last Nov when the ^&*() gelding I was riding bolted and ran thru fences. Guess I will stick with mares. Anyway, the signs pointing to the ride were well placed and easy to read unless you were 'speeding'..... Again a great ride put on the ride manager but only had about half the riders from last yr. The guess is that the price of fuel is really making a dent in traveling. I know I am looking at the cost of the fuel vs how much I would benefit from going before I go anywhere, horse wise or not. However, there were a few that travelled from Lubbock, a bit over 300 miles away. There are photos put up on the net as there was a nice photographer there, sort of nice for us loners who have no one to take photos. If anyone is interested in the photo link, email me privately. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
