<<<Just curious . . . how many people here believe their horse could = complete an Endurance ride (sound) totally barefoot, no boots, no shoes, = no goo, etc.? Is this possible?
The jr that was riding w/ me earlier this year has completed 25s and 50s on her totally barefoot Arabian gelding in various terrain. We completed two days of 25 LDs on a rocky course in the Hill Country. I believe he was one of the few to do both days totally barefoot. This is a ride I'm told that some people in Texas who ride barefoot/boots don't even come to. I thought the horse was a little ouchy after 2 days on rocks. But he completed. This wasn't by choice, but rather by necessity as the owner can't really afford shoeing. A plus is that the horse is normally in a paddock/small pasture w/ sand and some rock, so his feet are naturally hard and he has good feet. Also, the rider is a lightweight girl.
