My mule, Noodle did 55 miles @ Shamrock (read--shamROCKS) in July. It was the first time I've tried to do an endurance ride barefoot. My other mule, Nellie, I put front shoes on during the ride at 40something miles.(Ground control shoes) I don't know that she needed them, she was maybe just tired. Her hooves looked fine, she was going up in her CRI's so I was just going to do everything I could to get her happier. (Including, slowing down, she finished fine but a little tired). I did shoe Noodle for the Big Horn 100 though. Both mules are back to barefoot. I will only shoe if I really need them. They don't make boots that fit a 000 narrow mule hoof. I've never tried anything like hoof armor or any of that stuff.
Just curious . . . how many people here believe their horse could complete an Endurance ride (sound) totally barefoot, no boots, no shoes, no goo, etc.? Is this possible?
