Just so you know, we have limited the entry numbers because we wonder WHERE
all the vehicles are going to park at our three major vet checks. Two of
them are at parks and I have not mentioned the size of the ride to the
rangers.
Lud will announce this at the ride briefing, but I am also
giving a heads up to all who are riding. We will REQUIRE
your crews to carpool!!! I know that's not exactly
convenient, but it must happen. There simply is no place to put as many
cars or trucks as you all will be bringing to allow one per every rider or
two. We cannot block the driveway to the Redwood Glen Baptist Camp
and we cannot block Wurr Road (narrow country road that is also the
outbound trail.) One year that happened and the camp called the rangers
and the sheriff out to get control of the situation. Parking area is not
huge, and we have to have room for two rescue trailers. Parking
cannot flow out onto Pescadero Creek Road; it is too narrow and
winding. Parking must be perpendicular to the edge of the road, side by
side as snuggly as possible. We will have traffic control. If you
think about it, this is still a better deal than telling you there will be no
crews allowed at all.
Please also be advised that Pescadero Creek Road has become a favorite
racetrack for the bay area motorcyclists who love to scream around all its many
turns. The vet check starts earlier than most of the cyclists come
through, but it is still going to be dicey because the vet check ends about the
time most of them come through.
We have one volunteer who can take about 4 crew people and their bags in
her truck and is willing to stay with them and transport them from Bloomquist VC
to Cascade VC and beyond. It would work best for crews whose riders will
be traveling about the same pace, so she can take crew people for several
riders.
I know ridecamp doesn't reach everyone, but I'm sure the grapevine will
help. Thanks for your understanding.
