I have always known the term "typey" to mean extreme presence of fashionable physical traits of the Arabian. Ex: Dish face, wide eyes, nostrils, level croup..and whatever is the current preference of judges of the breed. My horses are Polish/Crabbet crosses and while they would not do well in modern halter classes, they are what a lot of folks look for in an endurance/riding horse.
A friend of mine who "creates" endurance horses out of breeding farm castoffs, says she calls a farm whose breeding program she respects and asks, "Do you have any horses you DON'T like?"
