Interestingly, the Forest Service measured some of my trails by paying out thin string and measuring the string as it rolled out. They just left it hanging on the bushes, to biodegrade. I discovered this one night as I was hanging glowsticks for a moonlight ride. Kahlil was normally kept in a hot-wire paddock at rides. He hit the string about chest-high in the dark. I never knew a horse could throw it into reverse so fast -- and yes, I went over his head.
