RE: [RC] USEF Lexington Meetings (was something else:) - Bob MorrisJohn: Does any one really care as to what the trail will look like? When you get down to the nitty gritty there Are less than 50 riders in the US that are competing in FEI rides. (see AERC-I stats on line) So out of 3815 endurance riders in the AERC those 50 are hardly noticeable. The interest mostly comes from those who would live vicariously through the very few who do the ride. We should expect the annoucement of (a) major test event at that venue. There have also been ongoing discussions concerning the placement/design of the course itself. We couldn't make it to Lexington this time (the plane ticket went into paying USEF IHP dues and associated fees so Steph might be allowed to ride overseas...) ,but any/all that had the opportunity to attend are invited to send us the views/topics/schedules which were discussed with respect to the endurance venue at the horse park or any other relevant US Endurance updates. I'm sure it was an interesting week-end in USEF land:) jt On Jan 14, 2008, at 4:26 PM, rjkopp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: Not only are there no hills at the Kentucky Horse Park, but if the 2010 WEC uses the same 'course' as the current Pyramid Challenge Ride held there, then the majority of the ride will not be on the Horse Park grounds but on adjacent farms where you will ride the perimeters of a seemingly endless series of farm fields. A long section of which goes along a major highway - Interstate 75. Too bad they are so inflexible on holding the endurance ride off site because there are beautiful trails about an hour away at Daniel Boone State Park. Roxanne/Kentucky -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "Janice Taylor" <janustudio@xxxxxxxxxxx>I for one enjoyed your post and agree with it. However, in this paragraph (below) you mentioned the 'hills of Kentucky'. We do have some wonderful hills and trails in KY, but they aren't in the Kentucky Horse Park where the endurance race will be held...sorry to say. It too will be a flat race. Too bad the powers that be would not budge on their selection for the endurance section of the event.
