[RC] UAE/Arab gifts - Steve ShawWhen I was in the UAE with Tallymark I went to see some of the falcons that were there. When I simply remarked, "Wow how neat is that glove," or that hood or anything else that we don't always see here in the USA the handlers promptly gave me one or more. It got so that I had to keep my mouth shut (hard for me) so that they would stop showering gifts. I was very grateful and to this day my fellow falconers say "Where did you ever get that!"Steve Shaw "The 'giving' thing is very deeply ingrained in their culture, the Bedouin would literally give the shirt off their back to another friend. The bestowing of gifts on one another, and especially guests, = was very special, and sacred. not to curry favor, but to show honor and = respect." =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
