As someone has pointed out about steroids wrt to baseball is it should 
not really help that much. Hitting a baseball is about timing and 
coordination. However, Mark McGwire is an interesting case. He always 
swung hard from the day he came into base. If he connected it was gone. 
However, from his first day in the majors he was injury prone. He always 
spent time injured and not playing. Then one year - all of a sudden - 
he's playing through the season no problems with injuries. That is the 
year he broke Maris's record.

As the 2008 hall of fame selectee, Goose Gossage, said these guys today 
are lasting much longer and are suffering not ill effects of their age 
and the ware and tear of the game. Reason I suspect is the drugs. Look 
at Barry Bonds, Roger Clements, etc. They have been at a 25 year old 
prime into their 40s. So it may not be just on race day that - it may be 
it allows much harder training to get to race day.

Personally I think the FEI should be doing random testing on any of the 
horses on their ranking list and any horse that is going to compete in 
say 2008 be put on the list for testing before 1 Jan 2008.
